Residence in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania

View of Rear Courtyard

Bryn Mawr, one the most elegant villages along Philadelphia's Main Line, boasts some of the most beautiful housing stock in America. This stately home was built in the 1920's on a private lane in a Classic English Colonial style. A rather homely, insensitive addition was added to the home in the 1980's. This project is a correction of the mistakes and a seamless continuation of the beautiful lines of the original house. A new rear entry to the main stair-hall was created and a courtyard was formed with the new kitchen and family room addition. These new spaces have very grand wood ceilings with exposed trusses, fine paneling and beautifully decorated by interior designer Barbara Gisel.
