Residence in Sleepy Hollow, New York

View of West Elevation

This house was originally built for a relative of the Vanderbilt family in 1847 on an exquisite piece of property looking over the Hudson River to the cliffs beyond. The house had a rocky history, with a damaging fire in the mid-twentieth century and renovation after the fire changing the house from the original three stories, nearly 10,500 square feet, to a one-story "ranch style" house. The new design will bring back some of the original splendor of the house. A new great hall will restore the original vaulted ceilings to span the length of the house and open up to the view. A second story adds three new bedrooms and a master suite with a terrace overlooking the river.
